Saathi Teachers Programme Application Form 2024

We are looking to recruit 30 Saathi teachers for the 6th cohort. The cohort after selection will have to attend some Saathi events and graduate from 21 days of pre-service residential training taking place towards the end of this academic year, and finally start working as a Saathi teacher from Baisakh 2082 for two years.

 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS       
Please read below for who qualifies, what is required and what it takes to become a Saathi Teacher. You will need about at least 1-2 hours to complete the application form. The form starts with general information about yourself, education, experiences and then there are essay questions. SELECTION PROCESS      
After the submission of application, all the applications will undergo an initial screening. Applicants who pass this screening will be invited to a phone interview. Applicants who pass both this stage will be invited to a day of evaluation called Assessment of Saathi candidates (ASC) along with a final interview. Finally, offer will be made to the selected candidates, who will have to attend few Saathi events and attend the 21-days of residential training, the Saathi School.

Working Area: Sindupalchowk and Tanahun (possibility to expand to other municipality and districts)        
Contract term: Two years of absolute commitment           
Reports to: Teachers Development Coordinator (TDC)           

Core Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Teach English and Mathematics from class 1 to  5 in the placed schools. 
  • Develop and integrate 21st-century 4Cs skills (Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication) into everyday classroom activities.
  • Use innovative and child-centered teaching approaches and methods to engage students and create a safe and inclusive learning environment in the classroom  
  • Prepare annual, trimester, unit and daily lesson plans for assigned subjects in line with the national/ local curriculum.
  • Prepare and utilize various teaching and learning materials to engage the students and make learning fun 
  • Plan and execute in-class and outdoor activities and events to enhance the academic and non-academic skills of the students
  • Conduct regular classroom assessment of students and track them 
  • Maintain accurate records and portfolio of students' academic performance and report them to school stakeholders and the TDCs
  • Under direct supervision of the Principal and the SMC, work towards implementing the School Improvement Plan 
  • Communicate, consult and cooperate with other teachers and staff of the school, parents/guardians to ensure the best interest of students.
  • Reflect and evaluate one's teaching and learning strategies and methodologies align with the National Education Goals
  • Prepare and submit trimester reports, reflections, write ups and other reports to the TDC. 
  • Work together as a member of cluster and provide support in cluster initiatives and projects
  • Participate and contribute to shared learning by attending cluster Tune Up Build Up (TUBU) meetings and quarterly trainings
  • Conduct a small scale Community Action Project (CAP) within two years of Saathi journey to identify and address critical issues within their placed communities
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the school principal 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (preferred) but completion of secondary school (10+2) is the minimum requirement 
  • Passionate about teaching children and working in the rural community
  • Knowledge of primary subjects as per the curriculum
  • Some knowledge of child psychology, pedagogy and curriculum
  • Classroom management and behaviour management skills
  • Assessment design, evaluation and presentation skills
  • Theme-based activity-centric teaching skill
  • Exceptional organizational skills to keep on top of these tasks and complete their duties on time
  • Intellectually challenging and encouraging students
  • Good communication and social skills
  • Knowledge sharing and a passionate learning attitude
  • Patience, empathy and problem-solving attitude 
  • Ability and adaptability to live in minimum living conditions
