Sajana Sunar

Sajana Sunar is 22 years old, currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education from Sindhupalchowk, Melamchi. She is part of the 4th cohort of Saathi teachers.

She studied in a government school, and so she did not see the qualities that a good teacher should have. This is why she decided to enter the teaching profession so that she can teach children with love and friendship and not through fear. After she finished school, she taught in a public school for four years before joining a Saathi teacher programme.

Whilst working as a Saathi teacher, she enjoyed being able to guide the children on their learning path. She joined the Saathi Programme and had the opportunity to connect with students in two distinct locations: Abu Khaireni in Tanahun and Tripura in Sindhupalchok. During her time there, she believes she positively impacted the lives of the children by showing them that a Saathi teacher is not just a teacher, but also a friend. She is working to create an environment where learning feels both safe and enjoyable. The Saathi Programme has enabled her to contribute to brightening the futures of children, even in some of the most challenging areas.
