Samagya Bhatta

Samagya Bhatta, a 25-year-old educator from Budhanilkantha-12, Kapan, Kathmandu, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. She joined the Saathi Teachers Programme after six years of prior teaching experience, initially as a three-month volunteer and later extending her commitment to one year after completing the Saathi school training.

Samagya entered the programme with a desire to explore rural communities and understand the realities of education beyond urban Kathmandu. Her experience during the 2015 earthquake shaped her belief that education is the only thing no one can take away, a foundation that becomes even more meaningful during difficult and uncertain times. With this belief, she contributed her knowledge, leadership, and positive guidance to support students and strengthen the community’s view of education.

“It comes with sunshine days and some stormy ones,” she says, “but every challenge helps you grow. In the beginning, you may ask yourself why you joined, but with time, the place becomes a home, and leaving becomes harder than you expect.”

This is how Samagya describes her Saathi journey-transformative, grounding, and full of moments that stay with you.
Although she completed one year in the programme, the learning, connections, and confidence she gained continue to shape her. She remains grateful for the experience and encourages future Saathi members to embrace the journey wholeheartedly.
